The contrast of growth/decay and calm/chaos is the main theme of my current work. Imagery and patterns are derived from my immediate surroundings. The sources are things such as: desiccated, deteriorating or tangled matter, meandering shadows, and old broken electronics. The imagery has been consistently coming from the random objects that I’ve collected and brought back to the studio, photographed or sketched on-site. I focus on surface textures and alternate from realistic rendering to extreme simplification and abstraction. Multiple layers add intricacy and density.
